Creating this website pt-2

Holy cow, a real article?!?!

My "first" article

I started building this website on a lark - javascript and react seem neat and I wanted to try something new. Because I don't know these languages or how to build a website from scratch I did some research. Then I started to use Cladue to help build the pieces, which was great but gave me a super generic website. Then came the fun part, breaking what Claude did and learning why the pieces fit the way they did.

Because LLMs can generate code quicker (and oftentimes better) than a human, it was an important part in scaffolding out this website so I had something to review, rather than having to build out each little bit by hand. The output is of course, super generic. I started with a list of interests (like photography or creative coding) and spec (like a blog or about me section) and built out the features and components from there.

Right now, the website is published and visible - there are still some backend things to clean up but the part I'm just finishing up now (cleaning/creating content) takes the website to being "mine".

Sure, the UI kinda stinks and some functionality is broken (don't try to sign up for my newsletter lol) but I really enjoy the development process and doing it in a new language rather than just slopping together a WordPress site.

This blog post is in part something to take up space but also a little 15 minute stream of consiousness (with no spell check yikes), so enjoy!
